December Blog 2020

December 2020

Hope you are all keeping well and safe. This is the final blog for 2020, the next being end January. I intend to keep this one short and sweet.

To be honest, I’ve not been as productive as I should have since my last blog at end of November. I haven’t felt like making anything too complex and if you don’t feel up to being creative, then don’t even try as things will go wrong. I did however decide to try and make a pair of Christmassy earrings but they are a bit hard going. Hopefully I’ll get them finished in time for the festivities.

A piece of information just to finish up with. December has not one but three birthstones –

Blue Zircon, Turquoise and Tanzanite.  Turquoise is the most well-known gem for December and is semi-translucent with colour ranging from blue to green. It’s been around for thousands of years and favoured by the pharaohs. Zircons come in a range of colours with blue being the most expensive and it is believed that it restores purity.  Tanzanite is not an ancient discovery in comparison to others such as Turquoise but has become one of the most desirable of gemstones and therefore quite expensive. It is found in north Tanzania hence the name. If you like blue, then these stones are for you!

That’s it for this year. I hope everyone has a good, if somewhat unusual Christmas and let’s hope that 2021 is a better year.

Best wishes

Gill
